NAAB Reopens Call for Public Comment on Proposed Accreditation Program Fees
0
Recommend
In February of 2024, NAAB
issued a Call for Comment
proposing a new funding structure. This structure would allow a financially sustainable future for the accreditation of architecture programs. The new funding structure focuses on a quality assurance process that is responsive to the needs and changing landscape of higher education and the architecture profession; aligned with accreditation industry standards; provides comprehensive quality services; and ensures integrity of architectural accreditation.
NAAB was compelled to suspend the Call for Comment soon after issuing it, to address an assessment initiated by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) with participation from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), and the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), the ‘funding organizations.’ NAAB cooperated fully in the process, presented by these organizations as an independent third-party assessment of NAAB operations. As an accreditation organization, NAAB values what can be learned from such assessments to align NAAB’s quality assurance process with advancements in the field of architecture.
