The National Architectural Accreditation Board’s mission has been “leadership in, and the establishment of, educational quality assurance standards to enhance the value, relevance, and effectiveness of the architectural profession” for programs in the United States. Given the increasing globalization of the profession, American architects practicing throughout the world, architects from other countries increasingly seeking to work in the United States, and professional organizations from a number of countries seeking the advice and help of the NAAB in developing educational standards in their own countries, the following are ways in which the NAAB provides services that are in addition to its core mission:

• Architectural programs (outside the US and Canada) that can meet the NAAB Conditions for Accreditation are eligible for full accreditation.
• Architectural programs (outside the US and Canada) who cannot meet the NAAB Conditions largely because they are not regionally accredited as required by condition eleven, are eligible to be evaluated for substantial equivalency.
• The NAAB can provide advice and consultation to organizations in other countries which are developing accreditation standards and procedures.
• EESA-NCARB provides assistance to individuals who do not have a professional degree in architecture from an NAAB-accredited school of architecture and who wish to either apply for NCARB certification or for registration by an NCARB member board. EESA-NCARB works both with internationally educated architects and applicants for the NCARB Broadly Experienced Architect process.
• The NAAB is one of the seven accreditation/validation agencies in architectural education that has signed the Canberra Accord; it is intended to facilitate the portability of educational credentials between the countries whose accreditation/validation agencies signed the Accord.
